I think sometimes we insist on complicating things when the best approach is to keep it simple. Instead of always reaching for the speed lights sometimes it’s best to just look around and see what the ambient light is doing. We don’t always need to nuke our subjects to death with all of our lights and modifiers, we can opt for the best light out there, nature’s free strobe, the sun. Some of my favorite light has come from the window in my dining room, it just pours in soft and perfect. Whatever/whomever just so happens to be sitting there receives the best light that money can’t buy.
